Service Work

Today I was blessed to be asked to stay over after a meeting a cut out labels that will be attached to treat bags. Those treat bags will be distributed to the homeless.

When I first began working the program. It was all about me. What I needed to stay sober. Overtime it’s changed to what I can do to help others.

I have been asked to help a fellow member feed her cat while she was away on a business trip. I have opened up the building where meetings have been held. I have helped sweep the floors at the meetings. Sometimes it’s been little things such as cleaning out the coffee pot after a meeting on my way out or turning off the lights.

Through service work and working with others has brought me a feeling of belonging. I have always felt like an outside to most. I don’t feel judged.

Thank you for reading about my journey. One day at a time!
